The back cut allows for unrestricted shoulder blade movement, allowing for easier rod handling. It also

To prevent rust from seawater and sea breezes, a hole has been placed at the bottom of the chest pocket that allows for the tip of the attachment part to be removed while the pin-on reel is still inside the pocket.
