The Mangrove Studio Mahi Jerk is a Japanese-made sinking jerkbait designed to imitate a distressed, dying anchovy separated from a bait ball. This irresistible baitfish profile and erratic action make it an excellent choice for targeting aggressive pelagic predators, including mahi-mahi, bonito and other blue-water gamefish.
Exceptional Darting Action
The Mahi Jerk's standout feature is its exceptionally wide side-to-side darting action. Even with light rod twitches, the lure darts aggressively from left to right, creating the appearance of a struggling baitfish trying to escape.
A steady retrieve produces an irregular wobbling and darting movement, while repeated short, sharp jerks create a more erratic action that can trigger reaction strikes from following fish.
Designed for Active Pelagic Fishing
For best results, use an underhand cast to achieve long casting distance, lower the rod tip close to the water and begin a series of quick, rhythmic jerks as soon as the lure lands. A 6–7 ft rod is recommended by the manufacturer for this technique.
The Mahi Jerk is particularly useful when fish are feeding below the surface, when surface lures fail to produce strikes, or when changing water temperatures make fish less responsive to topwater presentations.
